The Assembly of Women for Development and the Struggle against Social Exclusion is a non profit association of researchers in the field of social sciences based in Rome (Italy), in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC)

  Operational approaches
ASDO has an eminent vocation for knowledge, with particular attention to themes such as development and the struggle against social exclusion. This vocation is expressed in various operational approaches.

ASDO firstly works through research activities in the strictest sense, geared to gaining knowledge on women's role and contribution in contemporary societies, as well as on the various forms of women's deprivation.

Secondly, in order to obtain a more in-depth understanding of the reality, ASDO uses the various training, technical assistance and experimentation activities it constantly carries out, with a view to gender.

ASDO also promotes intense scientific and networking activity geared to exchanging best practices and results of research and experimentation activities at Italian, European and international level with researchers and policy-makers.

A further source of knowledge for ASDO is direct experimentation - carried out in the past with the Centro di Cooperazione Familiare - in order to help women take on greater professional responsibilities, to reconcile men and women's work and family life, and to create "friendly" working environments for women, men and families.
